Moscow City Telephone Network is one of Europe's largest local wireline telecommunications companies. MGTS is a part of Sistema's telecommunications business unit and is part of the Comstar-UTS group of companies. The operator serves more than 4.3 million subscribers, including 3.6 million individuals. There are 527 telephone exchanges in the network. Today the telephone network of the company counts about 7 thousand devices. At present the share of MGTS main telephone sets on the Moscow fixed-line market is 77.2%, and on the market of private users - 97.8%. Tariffs for the main service - local telephone connections - are regulated by the state.

Since 2004 MGTS has been carrying out a large scale reconstruction of its network, which will be completed in 2012. The company's network will be completely digital. At present MGTS network digitalization is about 50%, and by the end of 2007 it is expected to reach 54%. Each year the company is putting into operation more than 500 thousand numbers, the major part of which is spent for the replacement of the outdated equipment.

The operator offers its subscribers a number of additional services, including receiving and sending SMS-messages, digital number identifier, call forwarding and call hold, hot line and conference call organization. MGTS customers can order these services remotely by dialing certain codes on their phones.

There are 10 telephone exchanges in the company's network, and subscribers are serviced in 24 call centers. However, recently the company has been actively introducing the principle of "contactless" work with subscribers.

In October 2006 MGTS opened a Single Contact Center (SCC). By calling (495) 636-0-636 a customer can get any kind of reference information about MGTS, call a master, connect additional services, order an itemized bill, find out the amount owed, etc. In addition, the company's clients can contact MGTS employees by phone numbers of service centers. All calls to these service numbers and to the ECC number are free of charge.

At the MGTS website there is a "subscriber's personal account", where you can find out the status of your personal account and get a transcript of outgoing calls.

Since September 2007 MGTS began selling ADSL Internet access under its own brand. The company offers three unlimited tariff plans: "MGTS 128", "MGTS 512" and "MGTS 1024". Muscovites pay for the service on a credit basis. Payment for Internet access, along with voice services, is included in a single MGTS invoice, which is billed to the company's subscribers each month. MGTS provides these services on behalf of CJSC COMSTAR-Direct, also part of the COMSTAR-OTS group. MGTS also started selling Internet access services at speeds from 1 to 6 Mbit/s in its subscriber rooms, acting as a dealer of CJSC "COMSTAR-Direct" (trademark STREAM).

MGTS has been providing free directory service 09 since 1932, and in 2004 the new directory service 009 began to operate, offering more than 650 thousand services. Nowadays the MGTS directory and inquiry service is used not only by our subscribers, but also by the clients of OJSC Mobile TeleSystems and OJSC Vimpelcom around the country, as well as by subscribers of CJSC Sky Link in Moscow and CJSC Sonic Duo (the operator of the Moscow MegaFon network). In addition, the service is available to subscribers of Moscow fixeddline operators, and since June 2006 the MGTS service has been available to residents of Russian regions.

Today the MGTS 009 directory service is the largest continuously updated database in Russia. Every day it is updated with more than 8 thousand updates. Approximately 13.5% of the total number of requests to 009 service is a service order. Expansion of the range of services rendered leads to continuous growth of the users' interest in the 009 service. A year ago 009 operators handled about 70 thousand calls a week, now the figure is 85-90 thousand.

The Moscow city telephone network offers to get a "Mobile home" telephone. The point of this service is that MGTS subscriber gets a SIM-card for a cell phone with the number, the last 7 digits of which coincide with the number of the home telephone.

MGTS provides corporate clients with the possibility to organize virtual private networks (VPN). This service allows you to combine local networks in different offices in different districts of Moscow into a single computer network. It provides a high level of security and, if necessary, complete "isolation" of corporate networks from each other and from public networks, which allows you to organize on their basis payment, banking and other closed information systems.
